# Move to Ærø

Are you considering a new life on a small island? Ærø offers a safe and welcoming community, beautiful nature and a slower pace of life – while still providing the essentials for everyday living.

Here you can explore your opportunities for living, working and settling on Ærø, and find practical information to help you get started.

## Work, Education and Life on Ærø

###

                                    Work on eller from Ærø?

Ærø offers a wide range of job opportunities across sectors such as tourism, healthcare, education, craftsmanship, service, retail, production, green energy and maritime industries. The island is home to more than 20 maritime companies and has a strong tradition of both skilled trades and entrepreneurship.

With high-speed fibre internet across most of the island, Ærø also provides excellent conditions for remote work. Many residents combine island life with jobs based in larger cities or work from local co-working spaces.

Job listings can be found on Jobnet and the Ærø Municipality website. However, not all positions are advertised, and local networks often play an important role. We recommend contacting companies directly or sharing your profile in local

Facebook groups such as “Vi hjælper hinanden på Ærø”.

Seasonal jobs are common, especially within tourism, hospitality and retail. Starting your own business is also a popular path, supported by a strong local business community and advisory services.

###

                                    Education

On Ærø, you can pursue an education in safe surroundings, close to the sea and as part of a strong local community. The island offers maritime programmes, upper secondary education and apprenticeships.

You can, for example, study at Marstal Navigational School, which educates future seafarers, or choose HF Søfart, combining upper secondary education with maritime training. Ærø Municipality also offers apprenticeships in areas such as healthcare, childcare and administration.

As a student on Ærø, you also have access to the facilities and activities at Campus Ærø. Here you can use study spaces as well as simulation and training rooms, where you can develop practical skills – for example within personal care.

                                    Family life

Ærø offers great conditions for family life, with time for connection and a strong sense of community. Many people move here to create a better balance between work and family life – with space for spontaneous moments, play and nature as part of everyday life.

A sense of community and safety is a natural part of life on the island. People greet each other, help each other and know their local area. This creates a safe environment where both children and adults become part of a close-knit community across generations.

At the same time, nature is always right outside your door. The sea, beaches, forests and open landscapes offer opportunities for an active outdoor life all year round – from swimming and play to small everyday adventures.

You are more than welcome to join a club or association and help shape local activities. Whether you want to contribute to existing initiatives or start something new, community and networks are essential – and people are ready to support each other.
